Hedwig Neels (Master in Physiotherapy 2007, PhD in Medical Sciences 2018) is research assistant at the University of Antwerp, Faculty of Medicine and Health Care, MOVANT. She is master in physiotherapy, specialized in manual therapy, pelvic floor rehabilitation and perinatal physiotherapy and completed her PhD in 2018. She combines scientific research, education in physiotherapy and clinical work at the University of Antwerp and the Antwerp University Hospital. She also is board member of AXXON Belgian Clinical Interest Group Pelvic Rehabilitation and Perinatal Physiotherapy BICAP (Birth Core and Pelvic Therapy) and is Belgian Ambassador in the IUGA Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Special Interest Group.
She is was a visiting scholar at Sydney University, Nepean in clinical school in 2019 and is since then using 3D/4D transperineal ultrasound to study and assess pelvic floor functional anatomy.
