After graduating from the medical school in Iran, I started a focused research based Master's degree in GI physiology at the University of Toronto, ON, Canada. I had the opportunity to accompany my mentor, Dr. Nicholas Diamant, in his motility practice. My research and clinical experience further sparked interest in training in gastroenterology and motility. Naturally, I pursued GI fellowship at the Mayo clinic, Rochester, MN, the best Motility Training program in the nation. There, I quickly learned about the pelvic floor pathologies and management and realized the unmet need for such clinical expertise. I applied for a scholarship through the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association and had a focused pelvic floor training with Dr. Satish Rao, in Augusta, GA. My clinical and research interest has been focused on functional and motility GI disorders, especially functional defecatory dysfunction in women.
