I am the Director of the Pelvic Floor Centre of Excellence at Epworth and a subspecialist
Urogynaecologist based at the Epworth Freemasons Hospital, East Melbourne.
I am the immediate past Head of Urogynaecology, Royal Women’s Hospital and has a proven track
record of cutting-edge research and innovation. I have been been pivotal in the translation of research
into new procedures and products to manage female pelvic floor dysfunction. I have recently
developed new minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery that allows women to retain
their uterus during pelvic floor surgery. I have been successful in obtaining
research grants, scholarships, donations and industry sponsorship.
I am the current vice-chair of the Urogynaecology Society of Australasia (UGSA) and acting
chair of the Royal Australasian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists College (RANZCOG)
Grants Committee. I was a member of the International Continence Society (ICS) expert panel on
sacral neuromodulation in 2017/18.
I am involved in teaching and research and has authored many peer-reviewed publications
and book chapters. I have presented at national and international conferences as well as being an
invited key-note speaker and demonstrated live pelvic floor surgery. I have experience in
teaching, training and clinical research in developing countries. Research in Ethiopia lead to the
development of a new surgery to treat certain types of incontinence after genito-urinary fistula
surgery.
