Almost 20 years ago, urologists at the University of Miami in Florida, US, published a survey of ICS members regarding collaboration and practice patterns among urologists and gynecologists treating urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11135377). Almost 40% of respondents never collaborated with the other specialty in the operating room at that time. Dr. Jerry Blaivas, then Editor-in-Chief of Neurourology and Urodynamics, wrote an editorial concluding, “For the present at least, it seems that trying to get urologists and gynecologists together is still like trying to herd cats.” (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11135376).
With permission from initial survey investigators Doctors Shahar Madjar and Angelo Gousse, researchers at the University of Wisconsin want to know whether and how things have changed in the last two decades.
