PURE & APPLIED SCIENCE SESSIONS AT A GLANCE

We are well-represented on the programme for ICS 2023. Below is a summary of what we think are particularly relevant sessions for those interested in experimental lower urinary tract research and its applications. This should help you optimise your enjoyment of the annual meeting.

Abstracts
There are five sessions dedicated to Pure and Applied Science timetabled throughout the meeting, with something for everyone:

S7 Applied Neuroscience
S12 Physiology and Pharmacology
S14 Best Pure and Applied Science
S18 Research Methods, Models and Techniques
S29 Pure and Applied Science

These include Prize Award Abstracts in different categories:
Best in Neurourology
Best non-clinical
Best in Pelvic Pain
Best in Anatomy/biomechanics
Best in Pharmacology

State of the Art (SOA) lectures
All these lectures provide insight into contemporary topics, in particular:
SOA3: Michael Chancellor, Bladder Pain Syndromes: Have we made any advances in our understanding?

Round Tables
There are eight Round Table sessions where experts in their fields will initiate discussion forums. Of particular highlight are:
RT1: Pelvic Pain: from Syndromes to Treatable Diagnostic Entities
RT3: Nocturia - A Circadian Dysrhythmia
RT8: What do we really know about the external urethral sphincter?

Workshops
These are predominantly clinical topics, but the following may be of interest:
W14: Current clinical status of BPS/IC and what the future holds in basic & translational science.
W17: The role of the brain in bladder function – an overview of brain-bladder research and how to get involved.
