ICS Annual Meeting
The ICS Annual Meeting will be held in Maastricht, the Netherlands, on 6-9 October 2026.
Workshop - #3 Parallel Hall 5: Advancing Research and Clinical Guidance on Women’s Bladder Self-Care Practices.
To be held on Tuesday 6 October 2026 between 9.00-10.30am, this workshop will explore evidence-based practice in women’s bladder self-care from a panel of renowned continence health care professionals. This is a free workshop, and we hope you are all able to attend.
Nursing Forum – Parallel Hall 3
The Nursing Forum has been scheduled for Thursday 8 October 2026 between 2.00-3.30pm. The ICS Nursing Committee has put together a great program which includes presentations from our nursing colleagues in the Netherlands (NL) on their nursing practices and research. The program will include:
• Dr Hanny Cobussen-Boekhorst, Nurse Practitioner, NL – Nursing Clinical Practice in the Netherlands
• Dr Dina Mahjoob – RN, Clinical Researcher, NL – Data-Driven Innovation: Research in the Netherlands
• Dr Wouter van der Sanden – Urologist, NL - Ketamine Clinic & Uropathy
• Professor Joanne Robinson and Professor Donna Bliss, USA – Update on ICS Terminology Report: Nursing Interventions for Urinary and Faecal Incontinence in Adults
• Open forum on nursing challenges – which will provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss the challenges they face in clinical practice and explore how these can possibly be addressed.
A door prize of a copy of the Management of Fecal Incontinence for the Advanced Practice Nurses, 2nd Edition by editor Professor Donna Bliss, will be given to an attendee of the forum. For more information on this book please see the ICS website.
The ICS Annual Meeting includes a wide variety of content that will interest nurses. It is not too late to register to attend, and you will benefit greatly from the experience. You can register for ICS 2026 here.
ICI-8
In addition, this year’s ICS Annual Meeting will also host the 8th International Consultation on Incontinence (ICI-8) within the program, which brings together global leaders to advance evidence-based continence care. All delegates can attend the ICI-8 sessions. Your attendance will allow you to be involved in cutting-edge and consensus-building discussions, as well as having opportunities to engage in the latest research, recommendations, and guidelines.
From the ICI-8, which is actually a multi year consultation process, the 8th Edition of Incontinence will be created and is expected for publication in 2027. This is the definitive reference text for continence science and clinical practice.
The Incontinence reference texts are the initial go to for many continence health care professionals when investigating a clinical question and seeking evidence-based information. Each new addition is greatly valued.
Podcast
The ICS Nursing Committee has completed a podcast on Lifestyle and Behavioural Interventions for Urinary Incontinence in Frail Older Adults. This podcast is based on a journal article written by Kristine Talley, ICS Nursing Committee Chair, and, myself, Janie Thompson, where limited evidence for lifestyle and behavioural interventions was found in this population group.

Observerships
Two new observerships on Pelvic Pain and Conservative Management that are targeted at nurses and physiotherapists are currently available. They have been funded by the ICS to the value of $5,000 USD. You need to have been an ICS member for 1 year to be able to apply.
This is a wonderful opportunity for an ICS nursing member to explore continence nursing in other services around the world. Application close on Friday 14 August 2026, so don’t delay.
