The ICS Education Committee recently hosted a one day workshop in collaboration with the TRMA at their annual meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand. ICS was represented by Helmut Madersbacher who presented the following topics;
• FAQ about antimuscarinics in OAB treatment
• Adult Neurogenic bladder: current evaluation and clinical management
• Future of neuromodulation
• Faecal incontinence management
The course was well attended by 175 rehabilitation doctors from all over Thailand. A number of interesting discussions took place especially in regards to antimuscarinics, intermittent catheterization vs. indwelling catheterization and indications for Botulinum Toxin A in neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction. It was surprising the knowledge the rehabilitation doctors had about basic Neuro-Urology, reflecting the fact that many these patients are evaluated and treated by rehabilitation doctors rather than by urologists or gynecologists in this country.
ICS would like to thank Professor Kovindha from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Chiang Mai University who organized this course and was responsible for a successful meeting with excellent facilities.
