In collaboration with the Sociedad Chilena de Urologia.
In April 2010, the ICS and the Chilean Society of Urology jointly held an education course focused on Dysfunction of the Lower Urinary Tract, in Santiago, Chile in the Hotel Ritz Carlton. It began with a workshop on Practical Urodynamics, Study and Strategy of Measurement, delivered by Werner Schaefer, with presentations of clinical cases by the director of the course, Dr. Humberto Chiang, and by the course coordinator, Dr. Rodrigo Leyton. The Urodynamics workshop was attended by 60 doctors who were given every opportunity for discussion with the professors during an informal dinner following the workshop. The full education course was held over 23-24 April and was attended by no fewer than 200 participants from Chile, Argentina and Peru. The ICS sent four speakers: Werner Schaefer, Victor Nitti, Christopher Payne and Mary Pat Fitzgerald. The speakers’ chosen subjects were greatly valued by the delegates who actively participated during the round table sessions. Time was also allocated to symposium sessions supported by the sponsors and for social gatherings during the course inauguration and closing cocktail reception. As a result of this successful first combined activity with the ICS, the Chilean Society of Urology wishes to continue developing activities that provide education and insights for Latin American Doctors in the field of lower urinary tract function and dysfunction.
