The ICS Education Committee are pleased to confirm that Marcus Drake will be providing the keynote lecture at this year's early career session in Florence!
The lecture, entitled "Dealing with questions after a presentation" will focus on one of the trickier aspects of public speaking. Questions can take many forms, and sometimes can seem to be a minefield. The skill is to provide a succinct and relevant answer, remaining respectful and calm. Yes, it can be done!
The last three years keynote lectures have focused on Communication skills for academic progress (Chris Chapple), Knowledge Translation (Keiko Shikako-Thomas) and Social Media (Stacy Loeb).
Kari Tikkinen, ICS Education Committee member and organiser of the ICS early career sessions states:
The early career session is a relaxed event combining presentations with feedback and special lectures which we think will be of great interest especially to those just starting their careers. Young ICS delegates will present lectures of their accepted non-discussion posters. After presentation they will receive expert feedback primarily on their presentation skills but also on scientific content. More information on how to apply for the session will be confirmed in due course
The early career session is available to delegates on a first come, first served basis so please ensure you arrive early to secure your spot!
