ICS was invited to speak at the Neuro-urology and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction International Course in Mexico City by organisers Daniel Garcia and Adrian Gutierres.
The event took place at the Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel from June 30 to July 1 and was well attended with 230 delegates, from Argentina and other Latin countries. Due to logistical difficulties faced by Venezuelan delegates the organisers also live streamed the sessions for these physicians to participate.
The President of the Mexican College of Urology, Dr. Alfonso de Silva, chaired the opening ceremony, seconded by Dr. Alfredo Medina, the future president of the Mexican Society of Urology.
The course was divided in modules that covered the following topics:
- updates on urodynamics
- controversies in urogynecology
- updating male incontinence
- the challenging of treating the pelvic floor pain
- a debate on urinary tract infections in neurogenic bladder
- laser techniques in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence
During the meeting delegates had the opportunity to learn from 7 international and 13 national speakers. Key professors in attendance were David Castro Diaz, Blanca Madurga, Alicia Martin, Barbara Padilla, Carlos D’Ancona and Ervin Kocjancic.
The societies supporting this meeting were: International Continence Society (ICS), Ibero-American Society of Neuro-Urology and Gynecological Urology (SINUG), Latin American Association of the Pelvic Floor (ALAAP) and Mexican Society of Urology funded the invitations for these speakers.
The event was well attended and evaluated with the organisers already preparing the next edition for 2018!
