The 48th annual meeting of the International Continence Society will be held in Philadelphia, PA, USA, between 28-31st August 2018.

As the premier conference for continence professionals it will appeal to anyone with an interest in advancing continence science across the globe. It’s truly the meeting where latest ideas and studies are presented from leaders in the continence field. The ICS annual meeting is also a friendly event and welcomes everyone. It’s great opportunity to connect with old friends and make new contacts. Furthermore, Philadelphia is a wonderful venue for ICS 2018. The state of the art convention centre is within close distance of major landmarks in American history, places of cultural interest, and various types of restaurants. It’s an especially good place for foodies!!

The exciting scientific programme will be of interest to nurses. The ICS Nursing Forum and Nursing Workshop provided by the Nursing Committee will explore the impact of cultural factors on continence management, advanced practice continence nursing and interpreting urodynamics findings to inform continence management. At the Nursing Forum, the ICS Nursing Committee will review its history, briefly report on its activities, and inform members of opportunities for involvement. After the Forum the Committee will also run a free workshop entitled "Continence Care Nursing" which is followed by a free networking lunch. A great chance to meet new and former international colleagues and members of the Nursing Committee. Other social networking events can be found here.

Also on Tuesday, there is an all-day programme on "Clinical directions in Continence Care" which will bring you the latest evidence on managing incontinence and urinary tract infections. Aimed at all practising staff, and particularly nurses, the range of excellent speakers will allow you to catch up on new directions and the latest research findings, as well as update your clinical skills. Free to registered delegates or it is available for just $50 to those just wanting to come for the day.

Other notable items on the scientific programme include state of the art lectures and round table discussions for support of both clinical practice and research. The round table entitled Patient Communication and Medical Self-regulation may be of interest.

There are 32 workshops throughout the meeting, some of which require an additional fee although many are free. Some sell out so you are advised to register for these ahead of time. Workshops featuring nursing topics are presented and chaired by nurses in the field. The topics presented over many bladder/bowel and pelvic health conditions for patients of all ages. For those interested in geriatric nursing, Workshop 11, "Cultivating the next generation of Nurse leaders" aims to create a global vision and strategic plan for geriatric UI/LUTS.

There are also almost 900 scientific abstracts to be presented, many led by nurses or including nurse contributions.

The Nursing Committee looks forward to welcoming you to Philadelphia. If you are new to the meeting, please introduce yourself to the committee chair, Professor Donna Bliss. She and other Nursing Committee members look forward to meeting you.
