Hi, I am Benedetto Giardulli, a pelvic floor physiotherapist with a PhD in Neurosciences. Currently, I am a research fellow at the University of Genova, Italy, and an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Salford, UK. My PhD was focused on the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pelvic floor dysfunction. In particular, I developed a device to monitor pelvic-floor muscle contraction, adopting a non-invasive external approach through an external pressure sensor. I am also studying and assessing sexual health and well-being in various populations with long-term conditions, such as people with Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases. I am involved in professional and scientific associations, including the International Continence Society and the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR).
My educational training started with my BSc in ‘Physiotherapy’ in 2017 (University of ‘Campania Luigi Vanvitelli’, 110/110 cum laude). Afterwards, I received my MSc in ‘Health Professional Rehabilitation Sciences’ in 2019 (University of Napoli Federico II, 110/110 cum laude). In 2020 I won the ‘Medtronic Master Advanced Knowledge Experience’ (MAKE Napoli) scholarship (University of Napoli Federico II), which focused on systemic medical device development and management.
Dr Benedetto Giardulli declared on the Thursday 20th February 2025 that they had the following existing or known future financial relationships or affiliations:
