Julia has specialised in Continence & Pelvic Health for over 30 years, she currently works part time in her own private practice specialising in the treatment of bladder and bowel dysfunction. Her private work also allows involvement in lecturing, product development and consultancy work with several medical companies.
Julia is a faculty member of the International Continence Society (ICS), and is also a member of the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA), The Association for Continence Advice (ACA) and the Association of Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP). Julia was a founder member of Chartered Physiotherapists Promoting Continence which is now a subgroup of POGP.
Julia has a specialist interest in the therapeutic management of lower bowel dysfunction; her Master’s thesis was a qualitative study looking at women’s experience of treatment post obstetric anal sphincter injuries.
Julia has lectured extensively in both the UK and internationally and has made a number of appearances in the media promoting continence care. She is currently a clinical tutor and honorary lecturer at the University of Bradford and an approved tutor for the POGP.
