Paul Hodges DSc MedDr PhD BPhty(Hons) is a National Health and Medical Research Council (Australia) Leadership Fellow (Level 3) and Director of the Centre of Clinical Research Excellence in Spinal Pain, Injury and Health at The University of Queensland, Australia. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science, and the Australian College of Physiotherapists. He is also an Honoured member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Paul’s research interests in pain, movement, continence and rehabilitation span from cells to humans, clinical trials and knowledge translation. His research in low back pain has led to effective treatments and greater understanding of factors that underpin the transition from acute to chronic pain. He has received the International Society for the Study of Lumbar Spine Prize for back pain research five times (2006, 2011, 2018, 2019, 2021). His work in continence has led to new understanding of continence in men and clinical trials of new rehabilitation approaches. He has authored more than 450 peer reviewed papers that have been cited more than 50,000 times (Google; H-index - 114), in addition to 36 book chapters and 4 books.
